<p>Embedded as a sleeper agent as a child and only recently activated? Surely that's the only explanation that makes sense. Either that or he's been Hydra all this time and been terrible at it. Like literally the worst Hydra Agent ever. Worse than Bob even. </p><p>I hope this status quo sticks around for a bit. A secretly evil Steve Rogers manipulating things from the shadows sounds intriguing. However I suspect it will be a temporary thing, resolved in one or two story arcs. He'll probably be back to good old Hydra Hating Steve for Civil War II </p>

I'm also hoping it's temporary.

<p>They're likely just going for issue #1 shock factor twist to boost sales and generate reader interest in the title. I don't think they would drag out a storyline where the protagonist of the series is a Hydra Steve Rogers; nobody would be rooting for the main character. I'm predicting it'll be back to normal by issue #5 at the latest </p>

<p>Agree with @Hawkguy92, they use to do that, a super plot twist to create enough impact to drag reader, and after few issues everything is back to normal, at the end it might be just a different reality, mind controlled Steve, a clon, another Hydra agent impersonated, body possesion, etc etc... sigh.... </p><p>Just starting a flame to be turn off by a drop of water. </p>

<p>If I would buy Cap comics, I wouldn't buy this as it's not Cap. </p>

<p>My prediction is that it's an infiltration scheme. Cap is posing as a sleeper Hydra agent to get deep into Hydra for a larger mission. Without the Internet, we never got our panties so bunched over things.  </p>
