Yeah... in Battle Lines, they have a 50 second clock on turns... and people run it down to 5 seconds before doing their move. Some of it is app/signal lag, some of it is a-holes. So, any fight between equals takes about 10 minutes. I've had ones go 20. Sucks. And that's not even counting the whale factor.
Live PVP in freemium games is a crap idea as it only feeds whales.
Live PVP in turn based games is a miserable experience of lag, slow play, and whale encounters. I've never met anyone who likes "Arena" on Battle Lines, as it really is a miserable slog.
It's fun that you've named it PvAI, as that was a common rag against the game when Playdom ran it.
I'm currently playing Marvel Battle Lines, which does feature Live PVP, called Arena, where it is enjoyed by no one who isn't a whale. I told anyone who was listening that actual PVP would be a miserable play experience for 99% of players, and I feel highly vindicated by the experience on Marvel Battle Lines.
Congrats.
I’m signed up for Strike Force but might be at a place in my life where I’m done with games with lockboxes, payments for top tier and schedules that emulate work, only longer.
I’ve quit Star Trek Timelines because I was sinking too much money into it and I was clocking in on both commutes, before I went to bed and at several points during the workday. And they had random hero acquisition, so I had half a dozen Janeways and no worthwhile Spocks. I might be done with this style of gaming at all.
Good luck with Strike Force. I hope it scratches the itch. I’m pretty sure I’m not gonna play it.
Yeah, Loot Boxes in other games kind of suck, and MAA was the last game that didn’t do loot boxing for toons.
I massively preferred farming currency to buy what I wanted to farming toon shards and currency to open loot boxes.
There is currently a lot of discussion about the propriety and ethics of lootboxes in mobile games marketed to teens and more. I kind of hope the discussion leads to change in the industry back towards the MAA style currency farm. Or even the GOH shard farm.
I quit GoH a while ago, after getting a bunch of people to play with me. I got frustrated with my ability on the normal tank and my inability on the hard tank, and my complete lack of apparent progress on the normal tank. So, rather than rage quit, I kind of quiet quit. And been bouncing around ever since. Now, Star Trek Timelines, which, as a resource management game, primarily, and a deep dive into Star Trek, which I'm concurrently watching on Netflix... I'm kind of recapturing the MAA glow. Won't work for everyone, but having that media property to work through, keeps the interest in the game.
We are a ghost wiki. Game dead, several months now, and folks are tidying up, but otherwise, thanks for handling the cleanup for us.
Now playing: DC Legends. No apparent social aspect to the game, so I am kind of liking that. They will screw that up, I'm sure.
Whatever it is in the game.
1.12.4 gives 510 xp.
The 8.5 on FB gives 580, but requires running several substandard xp missions to get to.
1.12.5 gives 590, which is the gold standard of standard fights.
1.12.2 gives 430 + 300 in two fights.
The top level class challenges in the simulator give over 3700, making them the best option.
Have you sold all your consumables?
No. Don't believe there is. Simulator produces the best.
That's a great idea. And when they get up to larger Rancors, I'm ready.
