Artwork of Apocalypse and his Horsemen
The Horseman of Apocalypse are servants of En Sabah Nur who have had their abilities augmented and their wills twisted to Apocalypse's dark intents. They are styled off the biblical horsemen said to signal the coming of the rapture, of Apocalypse. Death, typically the most powerful, leads War, Pestilence, and Famine in Apocalypse's absence. As Apocalypse and his Horseman are often defeated by heroes, he has taken new servants often corrupting heroes of the X-Men to his cause. When Apocalypse is defeated they are usually returned to their senses, although Apocalypse's manipulation of their abilities has caused lasting effects for some, such as Archangel.
