S.H.I.E.L.D. REPORT: LOKI AND THE WRECKING CREW

Garthwaite claims to have found his powers channeled into his crowbar during a battle with Thor—antipathy toward the Thunder God being another thing the Wrecker has come to share with Loki, whom he believes granted him said power in the first place. Shortly thereafter the Wrecking Crew was born. They have been in and out of the Raft ever since, and the Wrecker has done time in the Vault.

SHIELD psychoanalysts suggest the Wrecker is a constant reminder to Loki of power that should have been his, but he also finds the Wrecker a useful pawn in his endless battle against Thor. To the Wrecker, his own powers give vent to his anger over his childhood. This is perhaps the most relevant quality the Loki and the Wrecker share: resentment toward their fathers. The rest of the Wrecking Crew is along for the ride, although we believe Thunderball still harbors ambitions to lead the group himself.

S.H.I.E.L.D. PERSONNEL BRIEF: Piledriver

Classification: Professional Criminal

Nationality: American

Criminal Record: Extensive, with outstanding warrants for assault, property damage, and burglary.

Powers: Super-strength and endurance. Piledriver’s fists have been mutated to prodigious size.

Known History: Like the other members of the self-styled “Wrecking Crew,” Calusky was serving time with the criminal known as “The Wrecker” when the group gripped his enchanted crowbar simultaneously during a thunderstorm. When a lightning bolt struck the crowbar a portion of the weapon’s enchantment was passed to the other convicts, granting them superhuman abilities.

Fortunately for the world, Piledriver and his partners in crime have not proven very effective in wielding their powers, as they have been defeated time and again and returned to prison.

Observations: “Karnilla, the Norn Queen, meant to send a bolt of power to my duplicitous brother, Loki, while he was entrapped on Midgard -- Earth -- and carelessly enchanted a common thug, The Wrecker, instead. Then he in turn ensorceled Bulldozer, Piledriver and the others.

“And so evil begets evil begets evil. ‘Tis wearying that thus will always be the tale of both men and gods.” — Thor
