Power: Tigra has the exceptional strength and agility to go along with her feline appearance, as well as razor-sharp claws and teeth and a prehensile tail.
Known History: When her police officer husband was murdered, Greer Grant donned the costumed identity of the Cat to bring the killers to justice after her full potential was unlocked during a psychic experiment -- or so she thought.
In fact, Grant's benefactor was the member of a mystical race known as the Cat People, which has long trained a worthy female to become their champion. Mortally wounded after a battle with HYDRA as the Cat, these half-feline humanoids transformed her into Tigra, the Were-Woman to save her life. Preferring her feline form to her human one, Grant has adventured in this identity ever since.
Observations: "According to Bloodstone's Taxonomy of Daemons, the Cat People were created from a fusion of human and feline by a Dark Ages alchemist named Ebrok. They quickly bred out of control, however, and a group of sorcerers banded together to banish them to another dimension. After many years of research, a band of Cat People managed to return to our world, disguising themselves as regular humans with the use of a mystic amulet.
"Greer Grant has possession of such a talisman and at her request I examined it: Its magicks remain potent, so she may turn back into a normal woman whenever she wishes. But she prefers to remain Tigra, and given how beloved she is for her heroic acts in this visage, who could blame her?"
