PERSONNEL BRIEF, Directorate of Operations: Valkyrie

Designation: Extradimensional Friendly (EDF)

Nationality: Asgardian

Criminal Record: N/A

Powers: Valkyrie possesses the superhuman strength and invulnerability common to all Asgardians; In addition, thanks to the duties of her office she sees a "deathglow" around men or women who are about to perish.

Unique Weapon: Her sword, "Dragonfang," said to have been forged from a Chinese dragon's tooth, was a gift from her frequent comrade Dr. Stephen Strange .

Known History: Brunnhilde is the most storied of the female warriors Odin, King of Asgard, selects to swoop down over the battlefield after hostilities have finished. Legends say that the Valkyrie bring the most accomplished of the deceased combatants to Valhalla, Asgard's hall of honored dead. These blessed spirits will supposedly fight by Odin's side during the final battle of good and evil the Norse tradition calls "Ragnarok."

In the modern era, Brunnhilde was tricked into fighting the Avengers through schemes of the Enchantress , who duped her into believing she battled for women's rights. Freeing herself from the renegade Asgardian's spell, Valkyrie chose to fight on the side of the heroes of Earth, and later joined the Avengers herself.

Observations: "I have heard some of the legends you people of Midgard -- Earth -- concocted about the Valkyrie. And I must admit...They are quite amusing. But the truth, as it so often is, is all the more...fascinating.

The truth is, the Valkyrie did not collect the dead. They simply made more of them. The women were chosen for their speed and their grace. People said they were invisible because you never saw them until you were already dead. They disappeared as quickly as they came, so the enemies of Asgard claimed they rode winged horses. In truth, the Valkyrie were more like...What is the word I have heard in Midgard? Ah, yes.
