The Hellfire Club continues to mobilize mutant assets. This time we've got a report that they have brought the Living Pharaoh out of stasis and stashed him somewhere near here.

Nick Fury:

Who's our man on the inside?

Tony Stark:

Havok. He's been inside the Hellfire Club since the Pulse, and for reasons known only to himself is only coming forward now.

Emma Frost:

It was a decision I made with our half of the Inner Circle, Tony. We had our reasons.

Havok:

Now I'm here. And since I'm the one who blocked the Living Pharaoh's first transformation, I'm the best option to take him out this time.

Maria Hill:

The Hellfire Club is protecting him. They've brought in Constrictor and Bullseye as muscle, but we have yet to see Abdol himself.

Havok:

He's in there. I saw him.

Emma Frost:

Yes. He is. And I can assure you that not all Hellfire Club members were supportive of this, or knew about it.

We've located the spot where the Hellfire Club recovered the Living Pharaoh. Get someone there to secure the site before it's looted. There might be valuable artifacts there.

Quicksilver, how fast can you do a sweep of known Hellfire safe houses in New York?

There's more, though. I am hearing that the next transformation will occur in New York. It's just not certain where.

Tony Stark:

Tony Stark:

We're detecting it too. It's a conducting matrix of some kind.

Maria Hill:

Agent, the Living Pharaoh appears to be charging himself up using Havok as a battery.

Havok:

Then let's kick this into the next gear. He's not weakening me yet.

And what Mr. Sinister started. He's the one who set the whole thing up in the first place, isn't he?

Brotherhood forces and rogue Sentinels are set up in defensive positions all around a lab where we think the Pharaoh is working.

Maria Hill:

That's where it gets confusing. We do have sightings of Magneto, but the reports say he's fighting the Brotherhood, not helping them.

Tony Stark:

What?? What's next, dogs and cats living together?

Nick Fury:

We should follow this closely, Agent. A civil war within the Brotherhood can only help us.

S.H.I.E.L.D. recon has found some kind of cosmic energy shield in the middle of downtown. The Living Pharaoh may be inside, but we can't penetrate the shield through normal means. We need to fight fire with fire, and there's no bigger fire than the Phoenix Force.

Jean, we need some serious cosmic elbow grease to get through that shield. Would you mind asking Hot Wings if we could borrow a cup of world-leveling primal flames?

Phoenix:

I don't think you're giving this the serious treatment it deserves. Are you SURE you want me to try to contact the Phoenix Force again? After what happened at Utopia?

Tony Stark:

Sorry, nerves. Look, we've all seen what the Phoenix Force can do. I wouldn't ask if we had any other option.

Phoenix:

Just so long as you understand the consequences.

Nick Fury:

This is still our only lead, Agent. Get in there, trash the Brotherhood, and bring back anything interesting for analysis.

Havok:

On the bright side, Fury, you won't have to worry about me powering up the Pharaoh in there.

Nick Fury:

Well, thank heaven for small miracles.

Havok:

I don't think you're going to like what you've caught. Are you hiding Magneto somewhere in here too?

The Living Pharaoh has the full protection of the Hellfire Club, which includes all the Brotherhood muscle that could make it here in time.

Havok, you and the Pharaoh are linked. Can you tell exactly where he is?

No. It's not that kind of link. I'm not a sensor.

Nick Fury:

Then we're going house-to-house. Any known or suspected Hellfire Club property is, as of right now, a hostile location. Into the field, people.

The interdimensional gateways opened by mystical and demonic forces have gotten the attention of the Cat People. Tigra's their totem. Maybe she can keep them from joining the fray; we don't need any more complications.

Tigra, we've got an intel problem and we're wondering if you might be able to help us solve it.

Nick Fury:

Mystical sources inside S.H.I.E.L.D. --

Tigra:

You can say Doctor Strange, Fury. I know how this works.

Nick Fury:

Okay, Strange says that he's hearing rumblings along interdimensional channels that some of the Cat People want to get a piece of the Iso-8 action.

Maria Hill:

Needless to say, we don't want to add another variable to our strategy right now. They'll listen to you if you ask them to stay out of this fight.

Tigra:

What's in it for them?

Nick Fury:

Plenty. They stay clear of S.H.I.E.L.D. operations, and they won't end up in HYDRA's crosshairs. That ought to be enough.

They have agreed to remain neutral, on the condition that any benefits of Iso-8 are shared with them. Also, it might interest you to know that they've already had their own skirmishes with Mindless Ones.

While we're fighting the boots-and-bullets battles in the streets, we need to keep up efforts in the lab, too. We've gotten enough data on the Living Pharaoh's energy field to see if Beast can find a way to disrupt it.

Maria Hill:

Beast, if you can whip something up to interfere with the Living Pharaoh's matrix, that would be a big help.

Beast:

Oh, I think I have an idea or two in that direction. You keep our unruly guests occupied while I make final calibrations. Once I've done that, we can probably use the Helicarrier's active sonar to create an interference field.

Maria Hill:

Let's do it, then.

Well, let's perform a quick test run... Yes, this should slow him down. But it's not going to stop him. The only way to do that would be to, um, remove Havok. As in, from this universe.

Some artifacts in the museum's collection here are starting to emit strange energy. Gather them up before they cause a problem.

Man, there's a lot of stuff in the museum's storage levels that nobody knows anything about. Some of it's acting weird in the presence of the Living Pharaoh's matrix. Get it to a secure location so we can figure out what's going on.

All clear. Once we got these items in a shielded room, they stopped emitting energy. Now let's find out why they were doing it in the first place.

There are multiple defensive perimeters around the Hellfire Club's central position. We would waste a lot of manpower breaking them down. Or we could send Deadpool ahead to soften them up.

A Team-Up! Pleeeeeaase. I want to team her up real bad. That's just between you and me. Also, hey, tell the developers that they better saddle up and build Bob, Agent of HYDRA. I mean it. I'm lonely.

Then why hasn't our lovely ally Emma Frost mentioned it?

Nick Fury:

Magneto's already been announced in the Syndicate. Maybe he's not talking to the rest of the Brotherhood any more.

Tony Stark:

That'd certainly explain Mystique's little coup.

Nick Fury:

In any case, the Brotherhood and the Hellfire Club have worked together in the past. Let's keep that in mind.

It's close, though. I've detected a new energy signature in the frequency the Pharaoh was using to tap Havok's energy.

His conducting matrix is still functional. We haven't been able to interrupt it.

Maria Hill:

Maybe he's not using Havok as a battery. Maybe Havok is a conduit for cosmic radiation energy instead.

Tony Stark:

That makes this a real tricky operation. We don't want to put ourselves in the position of powering the Pharaoh up by sending Havok against him.

Havok:

On the other hand, nobody on Earth knows how to fight the Pharaoh better than I do.

Tony Stark:

It's your show, Alex. But if you think the Pharaoh is draining you, pull out of there and we'll figure something else out.

The Green Goblin? What's Osborn want with the Living Pharaoh?

Tony Stark:

He wants in the Syndicate. If he can't get in the Syndicate he's going to do his own thing, and in this case that means allying with the Brotherhood.

Maria Hill:

How do we know the Living Pharaoh is going to join up with the Brotherhood? Not all mutants share the same interests.

Tony Stark:

I'll be happy to be wrong about that, but you watch. Next time we see him he'll be doing something for the Brotherhood directly, or for the Hellfire Club. Which is the same thing. Osborn is bankrolling Dragoness here, and I'll bet you my second-best Bugatti that he signed the checks for Constrictor and Bullseye, too. Remember, Osborn's a hereditary member of the Hellfire Club. He's tapped in on levels even I don't know about.
