Mission 1[]

"To make things interesting, Arcade has seeded his Murderworld with robotic clones of heroes and villains. Make sure it's a machine before you shoot."
— Mission Preview

Mission Start[]

Agent Coulson:
Arcade has taken his Murderworld obsession to a new level. He's domed over areas of New York, cutting off all outside contact.

Maria Hill:
Information is scarce, but he's deployed some pioneering nanotechnology. Arcade is now a real combat danger.

Agent Coulson:
We're reaching out to see who's been captured, but there's a lot we still don't know.

Maria Hill:
Murderworld has always been a way for Arcade to play games with other people's lives. Now he's at it again, but the stakes are even higher.

Agent Coulson:
We've got to get our people out of there, but first we need to find a way in.

You want to see what I've done here, Fury? It's a masterpiece! I've even brought in one of your agents to take part in the proceedings. Arcade:

Nick Fury:
You need another pawn to play with, Arcade?

Oh no, I have more pawns than I could ever play with. But I do want you to know what you're dealing with, Director.

This is a Murderworld like no other! With I myself playing a starring role... but of course some things never change. The lucky guests of Murderworld must kill or be killed!

Our first contestant is ready! Hulk, I welcome you to Murderworld! Your standard resistance method of tearing everything to pieces won't work here, I'm afraid.

The nano-enabled structure of this facility means it can repair and reconfigure itself faster than you can tear your way out.

Why have I invited you here? Fascinating question.

Arcade:

Hulk:
I didn't ask.

But you were thinking it, weren't you? Of course you were. Arcade:

Hulk:
Was wondering what's the smallest pieces I could tear you into.

Agent, you'll be seeing Hulk later. First, you should see if you can't find your way to Daredevil and Hawkeye. They may know their way around a circus, but they have never been prepared for a game like this.

I've been doing a little experimenting with some new toys. You'll have many chances to admire my handiwork.

Are you ready? Splendid! Let us begin! The objective is to find your way out! Easy, right? Oh wait. Did I forget to mention the only way out is by killing each other? Otherwise it wouldn't be Murderworld, now, would it?

Since you crusader types are so fond of groups, there are two teams: heroes and villains! For added spice, I am spotlighting villains who recently chose the path of reformation. Betrayal! There's no better way to incite murder.

Arcade:

Deploy 1[]

Screen Text[]

Bishop has volunteered to do a little census work and population control on the bad guys in the area. Take him up on the offer while we're all still on the same side.

Start[]

Bishop:
I'm going to take a look around and see if any of these Hammerheads and Madame Masques are the real thing.

Complete[]

Bishop:
All I'm finding is robots. Well, and a ton of street thugs who don't have any idea what they're doing down here either.

Deploy 2[]

Screen Text[]

If we're cut off from S.H.I.E.L.D. Command, we'll have to find the way out ourselves. Hawkeye can scout around and see if there are any holes in Arcade's barriers.

Start[]

Hawkeye:
If there's a way out, I'll find it. Watch my six.

Complete[]

Hawkeye:
Nothing. This whole place is hermetic, near as I can tell.

Deploy 3[]

Screen Text[]

Send anyone you can spare to continue the search for a way out... and tell them to watch out for the robotic Madame Masques.

Deploy 4[]

Screen Text[]

Spider-Man thinks Nico Minoru is in here somewhere, and might be hurt. Send him to take a look.

Start[]

Spider-Man:
The old spidey-sense is telling me that Nico Minoru's in trouble. I saw her get tackled by a robo-Hammerhead, and after I arrived to break it up, she was gone.

I'm going to check out the area and make sure she's okay. No matter what Arcade wants, we need to stick together.

Complete[]

Spider-Man:
I think she's been moved to another part of Murderworld. She's not around here, anyway. How big is this place?

Deploy 5[]

Screen Text[]

Keep looking for ways out. Even if we don't find them, we'll at least have a better idea of where the threats are...

MiniBoss - Elektra[]

Reveal[]

I do love a street fight. Watching them, I mean. And this promises to be a good one. Arcade:

Daredevil:
I'd know that heartbeat anywhere. Elektra.

Yes! Elektra! Do go forth and meet her, Daredevil! I'll be on the edge of my seat. Arcade:

Start[]

Daredevil:
You don't need Arcade. You were a killer before you got here. This must be your ideal environment.

Always rushing to that moral high ground, Matt. But in here, nobody gets to stand on principle. Elektra:

Daredevil:
That's a nice excuse for something you weren't going to do anyway.

It's not an excuse. I'm just telling you that when you die being principled, you're still going to be dead. Elektra:

Daredevil:
And yet if I survive, know that it was my principles that kept you alive after I've defeated you.

Lose[]

You know I have no choice. But that's never stopped you from piling on the guilt. Elektra:

Complete[]

Wonderful show! Now, who else could possibly be watching...?

If watching isn't an unfortunate choice of words given the non-sightedness of one of our guests.

Oops. I did it again. Sorry, horn head.

Arcade:

MiniBoss - Moonstone[]

Reveal[]

It occurs to me there's a bit of a lovers' quarrel leitmotif here... ooh, there are no better games than those involving the heart!

I will continue the theme with the mighty assassin Clint Barton facing off against his one-time paramour, Moonstone!

Do your best, both of you! You have a lot to work out.

Arcade:

Start[]

I just ran into a robot version of Luke Cage. How's Murderworld treating you? Moonstone:

Hawkeye:
Arcade must be working out some kind of issues with an ex-girlfriend. He's got Daredevil and Elektra in another room around here somewhere.

Was that psychological insight from Clint Barton? The pressures of Murderworld do have a strange effect on people.

But this conversation is all avoidance. Time to get at the real issue.

Moonstone:

Lose[]

You're not even trying, Clint. I always knew you had a death wish. Moonstone:

Complete[]

I like the intensity we're generating here. Let's keep it up! What wonders await...? Oh! We have yet to see where the Hulk has gotten to.

Please continue, Agent. I want you to have a full report for your S.H.I.E.L.D. superiors, so they know what I have in store for them.

Arcade:

Professor X:
Agent. We are tracking your progress, but you must stay inside Murderworld long enough for us to learn a bit more about who Arcade's partners are.

Do not share this information. It is too difficult to determine when Arcade is not listening.

Boss - Red Hulk[]

Reveal[]

Ooooh let's play with more feelings! Here we have the Great Green Avatar of Self-Loathing, facing off against his red counterpart!

Do they hate each other more or less than they hate themselves? Stay tuned...

Arcade:

Start[]

I don't need Murderworld to want to see you in the ground, egghead. Red Hulk:

Hulk:
Took the words out of my mouth.

Lose[]

Get up, Banner. I'm not done with you yet. Red Hulk:

Complete[]

Hulk:
Now I'm coming for you.

As much as it galls me when plans go awry, I applaud! This was a proof-of-concept, nothing more. If you think your fleeting victory will save your friends...

Excuse me. Do you have any friends?

Arcade:

Hulk:
Don't need 'em.

Well, if you did, your fleeting victory would not save them! Arcade:

Hulk:
Good to know. Nothing's going to save you either.

Epic Boss - Taskmaster/Constrictor[]

Reveal[]

Professor X:
Agent. I have noted the presence of Taskmaster and Constrictor within this portion of Murderworld.

Arcade does not appear to have included them in his larger plan, but they have crossed paths with another prisoner.

Captain Britain, it appears. Make contact with him, Agent. Quickly.

Start[]

Looking for the way out, here... Constrictor:

It's Murderworld, Frank. The only way out is to kill our way out. You have the stomach for it? Taskmaster:

Kill, kill, kill. Is that all you think about? Me, I just want a steak and a brew. Neither is here, therefore let's get out. Constrictor:

Suit yourself. Either way we have to go through John Bull here. Taskmaster:

Captain Britain:
As you said, suit yourself.

Lose[]

Seriously. I'm not supposed to be here. I don't belong here. Where's the exit? Constrictor:

Complete[]

Out, you two mercenaries. Find your own way. Live or die, I don't care.

But Captain Britain... you fascinate me, with your whiff of the Otherworld. You I believe I will keep.

Arcade:

Mission Complete[]

Professor X:
The team has started to make progress breaking through Arcade's encryption. We cannot yet reach him directly to put an end to this madness while his nanotech screening remains intact...

Agent Coulson adds, and I quote, "But when he communicates outside its boundaries, we're starting to pick up some of those exchanges."

Those exchanges are providing insight as to the abominations awaiting you in the next area of Murderworld.

It appears Arcade has gathered his mutant captives all in one place. I will communicate with you telepathically as long as that is possible.

Group Boss - Arcade[]

Start[]

I've decided to take a more active role in the Murder parts of Murderworld! For too long I've allowed others to have all the fun... Arcade:

Complete[]

Professor X:
Murderworld is Arcade's territory. He rules unbridled.

I fear now that he has manipulated the underlying nanostructure to make himself more powerful. The old days when Arcade was just a sadistic voyeur... those days are over.

Be ever vigilant. You will see him again.

Mission 2[]

"This section of Murderworld is devoted to mutants, with simmering rivalries brought to the boiling point. Is there any way out?"
— Mission Preview

Mission Start[]

Emma Frost:
Agent. Don't look around. God, has no one ever spoken to you telepathically before? This isn't amateur hour.

I've learned quite a bit more about Arcade's little playground. Here's the short version.

Professor X:
Emma...

Emma Frost:
Yes, Charles. It is a bit embarrassing to be part of something as vulgar as Murderworld. But as you already seem to know, Arcade has tapped some new wellsprings of power.

Professor X:
So we have observed. What else can you tell us from the inside?

Emma Frost:
He's trying to buy his way into the so-called elite of villains, and he thinks the best way to do that is to make his dog-and-pony show as good as it can be.

Why am I here? I'm so glad you thought to ask.

Professor X:
It was I who asked, Agent.

Emma Frost:
Come and find me. Arcade undoubtedly will ensure I'm able to show you more in person.

Deploy 1[]

Screen Text[]

We're seeing a ton of Blobs and Toads everywhere, in addition to more Test Subjects than you can shake a pipette at. Try to find out if the real Blob and/or Toad are here. We don't need any surprises.

Start[]

Fantomex:
If we do find Blob, it isn't as if we can ask him to leave. But I suppose it is good to know.

Complete[]

Fantomex:
All the Blobs and Toads I saw were simulacra.

Deploy 2[]

Screen Text[]

It's possible that Kitty Pryde's phasing ability might get her through Arcade's barriers. Give it a try.

Start[]

Kitty Pryde:
No physical force can get through these barriers, but maybe I can phase through them. I'll get to the closest part of the barrier and find out. Cover me.

Colossus:
Careful, Katya.

Complete[]

Kitty Pryde:
I can't. Nothing's going to get out that way.

Colossus:
The only way out is through. We must not lose ourselves trying to survive.

Deploy 3[]

Screen Text[]

Scout the perimeter. There must be a way into and out of this place. After all, Arcade is coming and going.

Deploy 4[]

Screen Text[]

Even though she's not a mutant, Nico Minoru might be here. Send Nightcrawler on a bamf-y tour of the area to see if he can find her.

Start[]

Nightcrawler:
If Nico Minoru is here, I will find her. Poor fräulein.

Complete[]

Nightcrawler:
She was here. A number of people confirmed this... but then they tried to kill me so I did not stay to find out more.

Deploy 5[]

Screen Text[]

Maybe the trick to getting out is to go up instead of to the ground-level perimeter. Send Storm to see if there's an aerial escape route.

Start[]

Storm:
One of us who can fly should go up and see if we can get out that way.

Angel:
I can do it.

Storm:
No, I will. It might be dangerous and I'm not going to pass that danger off to someone else.

Complete[]

Storm:
That was a fool's errand. Arcade has sealed this area so tightly that not even I could bring lightning in from the outside.

Angel:
But didn't you...?

Storm:
Yes. I can summon it from stored electricity inside here, but have no access to the stratosphere.

MiniBoss - Omega Sentinel[]

Reveal[]

Angel:
Karima.

Yes, the Omega Sentinel! But is she here unwillingly, or has she joined forces with the nefarious, no-good enemies of all that's right and good?

Stay tuned! Find out! Only here on the Murderworld Channel!

Arcade:

Start[]

I do not do this willingly... but... mutant, you... must... die! Omega Sentinel:

Angel:
So much for that reprogramming job we did on you, huh? Or is this Arcade's little nanos clouding your judgment?

Either way, I hope you don't think I'm going to stand here and take it.

Your tactical choices are of no concern to me. Only the outcome matters. Omega Sentinel:

Lose[]

I could kill you. But I will not... at least not yet. Remember that. Omega Sentinel:

Complete[]

Angel:
Once a Sentinel, always a Sentinel.

Doesn't it just warm the cockles of your heart to see a man like Angel, battle-hardened and filled with rage?

I know I love it.

Arcade:

MiniBoss - Sabretooth[]

Reveal[]

Aaaaaaaaand: Sabretooth!!

Pitted most pitilessly against his blood brother and bitter enemy, Wolverine! Nature red in tooth and claw!

Can the healing factors keep up with the gushing wounds? Let's find out.

Arcade:

Start[]

Wolverine:
This is the place for you, Creed. If I thought you had the brains, I'd suspect you of being in on it.

Just a gladiator. But hey, we've both been there. So let's put on a show. Sabretooth:

Lose[]

Who's the best there is now, Logan? Sabretooth:

Complete[]

What a spectacle! Good thing I have nanotech, or I'd have to hire a special cleaning crew. Arcade:

Wolverine:
Nanotech isn't gonna save you when I track you down and gut ya, bub.

I don't think you're in any position to threaten me, Wolverine. But I do salute your moxie. Arcade:

Boss - Magneto[]

Reveal[]

Professor X:
Magneto. Arcade has captured even him.

Emma Frost:
Don't get fretful now, Charles. I will do what I must, as we mutants always do. So will Magneto.

Then we will find a way out of Murderworld and Arcade will answer particularly for his attempt to turn mutants against each other.

Professor X:
Optimism, from you? I concur with Moonstone's earlier thought. Murderworld has unusual effects on its subjects.

Emma Frost:
You need to be here to truly understand.

Start[]

Emma Frost:
Turned over an old leaf, darling? I thought we mutants were all going to be friends.

The current circumstance would seem to dictate otherwise. I fear I am an unfortunate opponent for you, Emma. All that psychic power, and none of it can touch me. Magneto:

Emma Frost:
Magnus, dear, you know taunts come back to haunt. Arcade has dealt the cards. Let's play the game.

Lose[]

As I learned a long time ago, sometimes one must do unpleasant things to survive. Magneto:

Complete[]

Emma Frost:
There's more going on here than an attempt to turn mutants against each other, Charles.

Professor X:
Isn't that enough? Awakening old rivalries would be quite a coup for our enemies.

Emma Frost:
I don't doubt it. I do doubt that's what's happening here... or if it is, it's a sideshow.

Professor X:
And the main event is...?

Emma Frost:
As Arcade himself would say, stay tuned.

Professor X:
He might be able to do it. The nanotech and Iso-8-derived innovations in this version of Murderworld are quite impressive.

Too impressive for him to have acted alone.

Mission Complete[]

Emma Frost:
Who's our mysterious compatriot, Charles? Stop being coy.

Professor X:
Nico Minoru. Arcade has opened a passage from this section of his Murderworld to the next... and Nico Minoru is there.

And she is wounded. I'm not sure how much of her magical power will be available to her.

Emma Frost:
We can't afford to carry anyone, Charles.

Professor X:
That is precisely how Arcade wishes us all to think. Do not give him the satisfaction.

I'm keeping this little "Sister" in our next little gallery! Will the esteemed guest Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. please follow the lighted signs? Arcade:

Professor X:
Yes, Agent. Arcade is counting on you to get the word out. You will be as safe as anyone can be in Murderworld.

See if you can locate Nico Minoru and discover who else Arcade has imprisoned...

Mission 3[]

"Looks like Arcade's interests have taken a turn for the mystical in this section. If Nico Minoru's still inside Murderworld, she's here."
— Mission Preview

Mission Start[]

Professor X:
Nico Minoru is somewhere within this portion of Murderworld, Agent. We do not at this point know who else Arcade has trapped.

Whatever gauntlet she is to run, you will run it with her... and that is where Director Fury's plan takes over.

Agent. Why don't you rendezvous with our goth-y guest and we will undertake the third act of the program. She is to play a starring role!

The first two have gone very well, but all rests on the big finale, no?

Arcade:

Professor X:
Agent, is he leading you to--

Aaaaaand that's enough telepathic communication with your dear friend Dr. Xavier. Arcade:

Nico Minoru:
A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent? How'd you make it this long without getting chowdered?

Also, you got anything to drink? Lemonade maybe?

Deploy 1[]

Screen Text[]

Maybe Dr. Strange can get a message to Wong by way of the astral plane. If that works, we might all be able to get out that way.

Start[]

Dr. Strange:
If I can project myself astrally into the Sanctum Sanctorum, Wong will surely be able to discern the nature of this barrier.

Give me a moment.

Complete[]

Dr. Strange:
By the Vishanti, this barrier is impermeable even to me!

Deploy 2[]

Screen Text[]

There are robotic versions of Wrecker and the Executioner all over. Where's the Enchantress? Hiding out somewhere, or did Arcade forget her invitation? Find out.

Start[]

Daimon Hellstrom:
We've seen Wreckers and Executioners... but where is Amora? We cannot walk into one of her traps.

Sif, take a look around. You'll be able to find her, just by sheer force of hate.

Sif:
That is my tracking device when it comes to her, yes.

Complete[]

Sif:
If she was here, I would have found her. Instead all I found was a parade of demons.

Deploy 3[]

Screen Text[]

Valkyrie might be able to open a portal to Asgard. That would get us out, if it works.

Start[]

Valkyrie:
Even Arcade cannot contain the powers of Asgard, surely?

Dr. Strange:
I don't know. He trapped Thor here, did he not?

Valkyrie:
Let us find out.

Dr. Strange:
It will not work.

Complete[]

Valkyrie:
You were correct. It did not work. Arcade is working with very powerful forces here. One wonders if he knows how powerful...

Dr. Strange:
And how long he can control them.

Deploy 4[]

Screen Text[]

We've tried everything else. Maybe we can clear a path out and down through the subway system.

Start[]

Scarlet Witch:
We've gone up... no. To the side... no. Maybe we should try down?

Ghost Rider:
Even if we have to get out by way of Subterranea, it'll be worth it. Mole Man has many sins to pay for.

Complete[]

Ghost Rider:
Should have known that wouldn't work.

We're just going to have to fight our way out. But would we want it any other way?

Deploy 5[]

Screen Text[]

This must be almost the end of this part of Murderworld. Who's got the courage to head back through and make sure no one's been left behind?

Start[]

Dr. Strange:
We cannot leave anyone behind here. We must sweep all the areas in which we have previously fought.

Complete[]

Dr. Strange:
And now, perhaps, this dire odyssey will near its conclusion.

MiniBoss - Scarlet Witch[]

Reveal[]

A clash of mystical might! The avatar of chaos magic faces off with the Gothy upstart! Ohh, the anticipation is killing me!

Scarlet Witch, take a bow! Meet your opponent, young Nico Minoru!

More special guest stars to be announced soon!

Arcade:

Start[]

Nico Minoru:
I don't think I'm ready for this.

How could you be? Scarlet Witch:

Nico Minoru:
I don't mean fighting you. I'll fight you. But I'm not ready to die.

Neither am I. Scarlet Witch:

Nico Minoru:
Well, one of us has to.

Both of us must, eventually. Whether or not it happens today... who knows? Scarlet Witch:

Nico Minoru:
Jeez, and I thought I was goth.

Lose[]

Arcade, even you do not control the powers of chaos. Nico lives, and I will not kill her. Do it yourself. Scarlet Witch:

Complete[]

Nico Minoru:
What's next? Do I get to go after Arcade? Hey, Arcade!

I am summoned! What's your question, young lady? Arcade:

Nico Minoru:
When do we fight? I mean, you didn't get all of these new powers just so you could watch everyone else have all the fun...

I have all the fun I can stand, believe you me, Grimm girl. Arcade:

MiniBoss - Satana[]

Reveal[]

Is my brother here? I can smell him. Satana:

Nico Minoru:
Who cares? You might want family melodrama, but I think Arcade will probably incinerate us or something if we don't fight.

Teenagers. Always in such a rush. Satana:

Daimon Hellstrom:
Don't sweat it, Nico. I got this one.

Well, what do you know about that? A surprise guest: the Son of Satan himself, Daimon Hellstrom!

Well, technically the Son of Marduk Kurios, but that doesn't roll off the tongue quite the same way. To the sibling squabble!

Arcade:

Start[]

Daimon Hellstrom:
So here we are. Just like old times. All that's missing is dear old dad conniving to set us against each other.

And here I thought you'd just attack me pitilessly, with all the demonic rage your dual nature creates. Satana:

Daimon Hellstrom:
You're talking about yourself, right? Even if you win, you lose. And anyway, against me you're not going to win.

I see what you did there. Loosen me up, insult me, console me all at once. Smooth, Daimon... if I was eight years old. Satana:

Daimon Hellstrom:
So smooth you can't stop it, even if you do see it coming.

Lose[]

Maybe now you'll drop the douchebag big-brother act. Satana:

Complete[]

Daimon Hellstrom:
All right, Arcade. Who's this show for?

For me, of course! You should know that your second time through. Arcade:

Daimon Hellstrom:
Don't give me that crap. Who's it for? If I'm going to die anyway, you might as well tell me.

I'll let you in on a little secret. Watching someone die is infinitely more fun if you know they are dying without learning that which they most want to know.

In other words: My lips are sealed, and soon so will your coffin be.

Arcade:

Daimon Hellstrom:
Cute. But I've walked through Hell. Little pocket godlings with nanotech powers don't scare me.

Boss - Loki[]

Reveal[]

Change of plans, campers! We've had a full program already, but we're also adding a very special guest:

The Trickster of Asgard, most conniving and jealous half-brother of the Odinson: Loki!

And continuing our family theme, we've brought in the Thunder God himself... believe you me, the sparks are going to fly!

Arcade:

Start[]

One could almost wish one had thought of Murderworld oneself. Loki:

Thor:
Do you want to know what I wish, brother?

Oh, do tell. Loki:

Thor:
I wish you possessed as much courage as guile, and as much principle as ambition.

Let us see whether we are better served, here and now, by your chosen qualities or by mine! Loki:

Lose[]

Surely the son of the All-Father is not defeated by his disfavored adopted brother? What will One-Eye think? Loki:

Complete[]

Well, I think this has been a tremendous learning experience for everyone. Congratulations to the survivors! I'll be back soon with an even better Murderworld! Arcade:

Thor:
The coward is glib in defeat. Let us pursue him and end this.

Professor X:
Not now, Thor. Now we must concentrate on getting everyone out, and making sure that none of Arcade's robot simulacra escape.

Your exit from Murderworld should be dead ahead. Keep going until you see daylight.

Tony Stark:
And Quinjets.

Nico Minoru:
Iron Man! I guess Arcade's interference patterns aren't interfering anymore. Okay, we'll be right there.

Thor:
Beware. There may yet be danger before we get out of this place.

Mission Complete[]

Nico Minoru:
It's been said of me that I don't take things seriously enough. But I mean it when I say thanks, umm... What's your name? Agent...?

I might have gotten out of there on my own, but having you around didn't hurt.

Nick Fury:
We've got crews going through Murderworld to make sure no one's been left behind. After that, we're going to get these neighborhoods back to normal as quickly as possible.

Nico Minoru:
And leave poor old Arcade homeless?

Nick Fury:
Damn right. He can make the subway rats fight gladiator matches. Murderworld is done.

Tony Stark:
I think some of the... ahem... recently reformed members of our team have some fences to mend.

Omega Sentinel:
I am only now purging the nanos from my system using my own nanoheal arrays. Arcade targeted us and affected our behavior using his new technology.

Tony Stark:
Ah, the old nanotech-made-me-do-it defense. I've heard that one before.

Beast:
She's not kidding. We ran all kinds of scans on her, Creed, even Magneto. All of them lousy with Arcade's little bugs.

Tony Stark:
Yeah, well, this is precedent. Next time I freak out and try to kill a bunch of my friends, I'm going to blame evil nanotech. Or the Phoenix Force. You've been warned.

Nick Fury:
Everyone's back on the same side now? Hank, you're sure none of Arcade's nanos are still operational?

Beast:
I'm going to triple-check everyone.

Nick Fury:
Quadruple.

Beast:
Like I said, I'm going to quadruple-check everyone.

Villain Side[]

Oh no, I have more pawns than I could ever play with. But I do want you to know what you're dealing with, Director.

This is a Murderworld like no other! With I myself playing a starring role... but of course some things never change. The lucky guests of Murderworld must kill or be killed!

And speaking of our guests... Welcome, my current and former villainous colleagues and rivals! This... is... Murderworld!

Wherein those of you who have reformed will un-reform if you wish to survive, because you know the only way to get out of Murderworld is to kill your way out!

I know how hard it must be for you to function without S.H.I.E.L.D. dictating your every move, so I have included an Agent to hold your leashes. Try not to kill your custodian Agent until the end!

First, O intrepid S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, I would like you to observe these lovers' quarrels.

If Murderworld can contain the scorn and fury of jilted romance, it can contain anything. Am I right? I'm right.

Enjoy the first act of this play. See if you can't find Elektra inside. Tell her I sent you.

Arcade:

Deploy 1[]

We're not staying here. Someone find a way out. Now.

Complete[]

Moonstone:
There's no way out. We're going to have to fight our way through.

Emma Frost:
Defeatist, aren't we?

Deploy 2[]

Screen Text[]

Emma Frost can probably tap Arcade's thoughts and find out where the control center for this part of Murderworld is.

Start[]

Emma Frost:
I have been able to communicate with Xavier a time or two since we all got trapped in this absurdity. If there are psychic loopholes, maybe Arcade's defenses there aren't as strong.

I'll bet I can get a sense of what Arcade is thinking without him ever knowing...

Complete[]

Emma Frost:
Shocking. There's just a ghost of a presence. He's barely there, and I can't even sense him well enough to get any kind of a reading.

Miss Frost, surely you don't think I'd build something like this and leave myself vulnerable to your psychic blandishments? Arcade:

Emma Frost:
Not anymore, I don't.

Deploy 3[]

Screen Text[]

Next time Arcade shows up, maybe we can trap him. Black Widow is a pretty fair hand at setting ambushes. She can find a good spot.

Start[]

Black Widow:
Arcade may look omnipotent in here, but he's still just Arcade. If we can get the drop on him we can figure out how to get out.

And getting the drop on people is what I do best.

Complete[]

Black Widow:
He seems to know everything we're doing in here... sometimes before we do it. Where is all this power coming from?

Deploy 4[]

Screen Text[]

Elektra just headed off on her own hunt for Arcade, after arguing with Constrictor, saying that he was slowing her down and holding her back. Send someone to make sure she doesn't get in over her head.

Deploy 5[]

Screen Text[]

We need to bring a little bad luck Arcade's way. He must have some kind of HQ around here somewhere. Maybe Black Cat can find it.

Start[]

Black Cat:
If we can find out where Arcade runs this nightmare from, maybe we can undermine it somehow.

I'll creep around on the proverbial little cat feet. See what I can see...

Complete[]

Black Cat:
Spotted Arcade twice, but both times he saw me coming.

Emma Frost:
It's the nanotech. He knows everything that happens in here.

MiniBoss - Daredevil[]

Reveal[]

Elektra, perhaps we will find out if mourning becomes you... because I've set up a little tete-a-tete with Daredevil, just for you.

He will be brave. He will be noble... and you must kill him, must you not?

Ah, it breaks the heart.

Arcade:

Start[]

Even though you gave up all that was good in you a long time ago, you can still make a choice to walk away right now. It doesn't need to end like this. Daredevil:

Elektra:
Shadowland all over again. You think you know what's right for everyone, but the truth is you can't even sort out right and wrong for yourself.

Not that it matters. If I have to go through you, I will.

Lose[]

Who's next? Time to get out of here. Daredevil:

Complete[]

Elektra:
Sanctimonious idiot. Serves him right.

Raw emotion! Let's see some more of that. Arcade:

MiniBoss - Hawkeye[]

Reveal[]

Ah, the reunion of former lovers. It brings a tear to the eye, does it not?

I guess I'm a romantic at heart. Karla Sofen, you remember Clint Barton, do you not? Of course you do.

Arcade:

Start[]

Target-rich environment around here. But you'll be something special. Hawkeye:

Moonstone:
Clint, you are a seriously damaged human being. The sooner you confront that, the sooner you'll be able to fix it. You like it here a little too much.

I admit, I'll kill you if I have to, but that's what we call a conditional necessity. For you, this is an expression of identity.

Don't bring your psychobabble crap in here. If you're still rationalizing yourself in Murderworld, you've got problems no therapy will solve. Hawkeye:

Lose[]

Get out of here, Karla. Before you really get hurt. Hawkeye:

Complete[]

Affairs of the heart do leave lasting wounds, don't they? Arcade:

Moonstone:
Agent, you need to stay out of my way. S.H.I.E.L.D. would hate to lose you, but I'll feed you to Arcade's robots if it means I get out of here.

Doctor Sofen, be nice to our guest. If the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent does not survive, who will believe the wonders of Murderworld? Arcade:

Moonstone:
I don't do PR tours. That was one of the things I didn't like about Rusk's deal.

You will do what you must to survive, won't you? Of course you will. Arcade:

Boss - Hulk[]

Reveal[]

And in this corner... Bruce Banner, the Green Goliath, the Jade Giant... the Incredible Hulk!

Do us proud, Bruce! We've had two undercards, but this one's for all the marbles. A battle of green and red, a gammathon fisticuff no viewer can resist!

Arcade:

I'm not puny Banner. He'd be dead by now. Hulk:

Start[]

Bring it, Ross. Hulk:

Red Hulk:
Want me to say goodbye to Betty for you, freak? Not that she'll miss you.

Lose[]

Guess you can't take this kind of heat. Hulk:

Complete[]

You have defeated all who approached. A deal is a deal. As much as I hate to see you go... go. You are free. Arcade:

Red Hulk:
Okay, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. You lived. Me too. Let's shake hands and get the hell out of here.

Oh, the agent won't be leaving. There's much too much yet to see! Arcade:

Red Hulk:
Oh. Well, see you around, agent.

Epic Boss - Spider Man/Captain Britain[]

Reveal[]

I've taken this opportunity to make some improvements to Murderworld. Never stop pushing for perfection, I always say.

The only way I can truly know whether my upgrades succeeded was to invite Murderworld's first occupants for a second visit. So...

Welcome back, Captain Britain and Spider-Man!

Arcade:

Once was enough, if you ask me. Captain Britain:

This one's pretty spiffy compared to the other one. But they both feel a little murdery. Spider-Man:

Constrictor:
The rules don't change. A littler murder is the ticket outta here, and I'm one step closer to collecting my reward once I'm done with you.

Start[]

If I come out of Murderworld without some giant drooly intergalactic parasite grafted onto my genome, I'll feel good about it. Spider-Man:

Constrictor:
Not sure you're going to be feeling good about anything in ten minutes.

Ah. Bit of a threat here. To be expected in Murderworld. Captain Britain:

Which way is the exit? The signage here is definitely not up to code. Spider-Man:

Constrictor:
Look, if only one of us can get out, I'm going to make sure it's me. No hard feelings.

Right. That calls for the direct approach. Captain Britain:

Lose[]

So, that's over. Let's blow this popsicle stand. Spider-Man:

Complete[]

Constrictor:
Still feeling good? Didn't think so.

I am feeling wonderful. Even where things have not gone according to plan, they have yielded wonderful results. Arcade:

Constrictor:
I wasn't asking you. I fought, I won. Let me out.

Ha! It seems you have not learned the rules of this little game, Constrictor. I don't think I'm done with you quite yet. Arcade:

Constrictor:
Well, I'm done with you. Watch me walk through that door.

Mission Complete[]

I built this Murderworld as a proof-of-concept. Concept proved, I'd say. But let us see how things progress before I commit to a full-scale version.

Agent, please accompany me to the next district of Murderworld. It is thematically quite different. I do love arranging things by groups.

Arcade:

Professor X:
It seems Arcade has even greater plans. Go, Agent. Your firsthand experience will be invaluable.

Mission 2[]

"This section of Murderworld is devoted to mutants, with simmering rivalries brought to the boiling point. Is there any way out?"
— Mission Preview

Mission Start[]

Karima... oh, Karima... awake, o Sentinel.

There are mutants to hunt.

Arcade:

Omega Sentinel:
That is no longer my function.

Now it is. If you do not hunt the mutants in Murderworld, you will be destroyed...

...and how many lives will thereby be lost, that you might have saved in the outside world?

Arcade:

Omega Sentinel:
I cannot know. But how many lives might they save? I cannot know that either.

And that, my dear Sentinel, is life. Not knowing what the consequences of your actions might be. I await your decision with great excitement!

Agent, perhaps you can accompany Karima at first. But feel free to explore any and all parts of this sector of Murderworld. Who knows what you might find?

Arcade:

Deploy 1[]

Screen Text[]

This new district of Murderworld is probably sealed up as tight as the last... but it never hurts to check. Maybe Avalanche can shake something loose... but send Black Widow along too, in case it doesn't work out.

Start[]

If there's a way to crack a hole in this wall, I'll find it. Avalanche:

Black Widow:
I'll be watching from a safe distance.

Complete[]

Black Widow:
Didn't work out, huh?

The seismic waves bounced right off the barrier, back at me. Avalanche:

Deploy 2[]

Screen Text[]

Send someone to scout the subway tunnels. Even if they don't lead to a way out, we need to know what threats are down there.

Deploy 3[]

Screen Text[]

Robotic versions of Shatterstar and Colossus are everywhere... we could use either one of them to help us get out of Murderworld. Let's see if either of them is really here.

Start[]

Emma Frost:
Look, I've done a telepathic sweep all through this area. Arcade is interfering with some of my abilities, but I am fairly certain neither Shatterstar or Colossus are here.

Black Widow:
Even so. Let us be certain.

Complete[]

Emma Frost:
See, Erik? I was right.

Black Widow:
Yes, you were.

Emma Frost:
Better we didn't find Colossus anyway. His whole nonviolent-Soviet-farmboy schtick is getting on my last nerve.

Deploy 4[]

Screen Text[]

This building has an especially high concentration of Test Subjects. Is Arcade creating them? Let's find out.

Start[]

Sabretooth:
There sure are a lot of Test Subjects coming out of this place. If Arcade's making them here, and we can close it down, that's going to make our lives a lot easier.

I'm tracking Logan, so how about you make yourself useful and get in there, freak.

Complete[]

Omega Sentinel:
I saw no laboratory, but you may be certain that no more Test Subjects will come from here.

Deploy 5[]

Screen Text[]

The last time we fought Arcade, he left behind some mysterious tech components here. Gather them up so we can see if we can use them.

MiniBoss - Angel[]

Reveal[]

You'll want to be on the lookout for a certain guardian angel, who at other times has been an angel of death...

...who knows which role he'll play this time? Oh. Wait. I do!

Angel, wave to the audience. You're on!

Arcade:

Karima. I should have known you'd turn on us eventually. Angel:

Start[]

This is what you were designed for, isn't it? Killing mutants?

Go ahead, then.

Angel:

Omega Sentinel:
Apocalypse once redesigned you to kill, Warren Worthington. Does that still define you?

Lose[]

You'll always be an enemy of mutants... as long as we give you a chance. Angel:

Complete[]

Omega Sentinel:
You derive pleasure from watching me at war with myself.

That is one of many pleasures I derive from Murderworld. 'Tis true. Arcade:

Omega Sentinel:
The more of my humanity I recover, the more I maintain... the more I re-learn to understand revenge.

A well spoken threat. I do enjoy your company. Arcade:

Omega Sentinel:
Insincere courtesy will not protect you.

Nevertheless. Onward! Arcade:

MiniBoss - Wolverine[]

Reveal[]

We're going to leave Karima to her own devices for a brief and bloody moment, while we drop in on the more feral portion of our mutant miscellany...

That is to say, here is Victor Creed! Victor, you've had a little trouble with a party or parties unknown planting a bomb in your head, isn't that right?

Arcade:

Sabretooth:
I'm sure hoping the last person I get to kill in here is you.

Oh, you think you would like that, but it would end poorly for you. Instead, I present to you: Wolverine! Arcade:

Sabretooth:
Huh. Maybe this Murderworld place isn't so bad.

Kill Wolverine and I'll have my friendly Murderworld nanos disable that nasty little bomb. Arcade:

Sabretooth:
I don't need any incentive. But I'll take your deal, just to see the look on Fury's face.

Start[]

Going somewhere? Wolverine:

Sabretooth:
Matter of fact, I am. I just left about a hundred Test Subjects in pieces, and I'm not stopping for you, either.

I hear you talking, Creed, but I don't see you getting any closer. Wolverine:

Sabretooth:
Oh, I can fix that.

Lose[]

Who's the best there is? I can't hear you... Wolverine:

Complete[]

Sabretooth:
That was fun and all, but I'm still coming after you when S.H.I.E.L.D. breaks open your little Thunderdome.

My hirsute friend, if S.H.I.E.L.D. could be here, they would be here. Ergo, they can't get in.

Ergo, your threat is only bombast.

Also, I lied about fixing your little exploding-head problem. No hard feelings, I hope.

Arcade:

Sabretooth:
A lasting reminder that I still need to hunt you down and rip you apart.

Boss - Emma Frost[]

Reveal[]

Magneto, she's probably already trying to talk to you but we all know about your resistance to that kind of thing...

...so I'll just go ahead and introduce the divinely attractive, the devastatingly diamantine Emma Frost!

Arcade:

Magneto:
Diamantine?

Do forgive the excess. Miss Frost inspires it, I'm sure you'll agree.

Dress rehearsals are over. The command performance begins!

Arcade:

Start[]

Erik. This is a bit awkward. Emma Frost:

Magneto:
For you, perhaps. You may be forgetting that I have spent my entire life fighting to survive.

Not just awkward, then. Melodramatic, too. Let us do what is necessary, darling. No blame. Emma Frost:

Magneto:
I will make my own decisions about blame, Emma, thank you. But yes. Let us do what is necessary.

Lose[]

Agent, make sure you tell Fury that Magneto really was trying to kill me. This place gets to a certain kind of person. Emma Frost:

Complete[]

Magneto:
And so onward. What absurdities await, Arcade?

Absurdities? You scoff, mighty mutant, but here you are trapped at my whim. I should be the one scoffing at you!

Instead I will watch with interest as you make your way through my finest Murderworld yet...

You, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. I imagine Xavier or one of his pet telepaths has been reaching out to you.

Please convey my warmest regards, and my hope that he himself will soon experience the wonders of Murderworld...

Arcade:

Magneto:
After all, we must survive this so we may take up our old rivalries once more.

Mission Complete[]

And that concludes this portion of our programming. The third act remains, and it's a doozy!

We've had tough guys and mutants, now it's time for the demonic and mystical to come to the fore. Let the arcane flourish!

Oh, and keep an eye out for young Nico Minoru. I'm afraid, like young Gretel in her namesake's fairy tale, she may have lost her way...

Arcade:

Mission 3[]

"Looks like Arcade's interests have taken a turn for the mystical in this section. If Nico Minoru's still inside Murderworld, she's here."
— Mission Preview

Mission Start[]

Professor X:
We need to get everyone out, but there is special concern for Nico Minoru. Of all the current Murderworld inmates, she is the youngest and most vulnerable.

Director Fury requests an update on her location, Agent. If you can think it, I will convey the information.

Very good.

Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.! Are you ready? Tremendous!

Let Act Three of our performance commence! Kindly step through this door and discover this new district of Murderworld.

Some of your enemies and some of your allies await... but those who begin as one might end up as the other.

That is quite the nature of Murderworld, and one of my favorite things. The drama of sudden reversals!

Arcade:

Professor X:
There are telepathic blocks all over this area. It's a rare person who can block me, Agent. Be very cautious.

Deploy 1[]

Screen Text[]

So Arcade has unleashed demons in this part of Murderworld. Perhaps we can get them listening to us instead of him.

Start[]

Daimon Hellstrom:
I say we turn the demon problem into an advantage. They would be just as satisfied with Arcade's blood as with ours, as long as we could persuade them.

Ghost Rider:
You think if we flip their allegiance, we can take Arcade down? I never figured you were an optimist.

Daimon Hellstrom:
It might turn them against him for long enough to let us escape. Satana, up for using a little of your demonic charm?

Ghost Rider:
I'll come along to cover her.

Satana:
Protect me? That isn't very Spirit-of-Vengeance-y.

Ghost Rider:
More of us stay alive, better chance to get out. Just math.

Complete[]

Daimon Hellstrom:
Did they make a deal with the Devil's Daughter?

Satana:
In a word: no. They would have eaten me alive, but Ghost Rider was as good as his word.

Daimon Hellstrom:
A quality fewer possess than claim, to be sure.

Deploy 2[]

This is some kind of staging area for robot replicas of Sif. They might be making others replicas in there, too. Take it out.

Deploy 3[]

Screen Text[]

There aren't too many civilians left in this part of Murderworld, but a group of them is trapped by one of those Robo-Spirals. Send someone to protect them.

Start[]

Satana:
I'm sorry, but if we're worried about our own lives, who cares if a bunch of civilians get greased?

Daimon Hellstrom:
Sis, I'm ethically challenged sometimes, but you're in another league when it comes to being callous.

Complete[]

Satana:
Okay. Now those poor poor innocents are saved from Robot Spiral. Are we going to keep on following them around?

Daimon Hellstrom:
Nope. No babysitting now. Everyone head for the exits individually, and don't expect any help.

Deploy 4[]

Screen Text[]

The subways around here are full of demons. Are they coming from a portal down there? That might be a way out.

Start[]

Satana:
There always seem to be more of these demons appearing. Wonder if Arcade is holding open a portal... does he have some kind of deal with Mephisto?

Ghost Rider:
Or Baron Mordo?

Satana:
If so, it's probably down in the subway tunnels, because that's where the demons are coming from. Let's check it out.

Complete[]

Once again, your efforts are futile! How I do love your futility! Please, search for more exits! Arcade:

Deploy 5[]

Screen Text[]

We're about ready to make our break... or at least Arcade is making it look that way. Make sure everyone's accounted for.

Start[]

Daimon Hellstrom:
If we're getting close to leaving--or Arcade wants us to think that--my guess is there's another fight or two in our future.

Scarlet Witch:
None of us wants to get ambushed by someone we didn't know was here. Let's do a sweep and make sure we aren't missing anyone who might be dangerous.

Complete[]

Daimon Hellstrom:
Far as we can tell, we found everyone. Guess it's time to move on and see what Arcade's got in store.

MiniBoss - Nico Minoru[]

Reveal[]

Professor X:
Nico Minoru is ahead. She is--argh! Something is trying to bl--

That's enough of that. Murderworld just isn't Murderworld if my guests are always getting updates from the outside.

Now. Your attention please. Ahead you will, as your Professor said, find dear gothy Nico. Wanda, don't annihilate her too quickly. Consider the sport of it... please?

Arcade:

Scarlet Witch:
Young Nico and I are not your playthings, Arcade. You will learn this soon enough.

Start[]

Hey, Wanda, how'd you get stuck in here too?! Please tell me we're not actually gonna fight... Nico Minoru:

Scarlet Witch:
There are no friends in Murderworld, Nico. This much I have already seen.

So I take it we're gonna have to fight then. Fine... bring it! I can handle any pink chaos magic stuff you can dish out. Nico Minoru:

Scarlet Witch:
I regret that I must use my powers against a good witch, and one so young. Trust that I will do my best to end this quickly.

Do your best, lady. I'm not running away. Nico Minoru:

Lose[]

Hey, Wanda, snap out of it already. Nico Minoru:

Complete[]

Scarlet Witch:
She's just a child, Arcade.

Children die all the time. What of it? Arcade:

Scarlet Witch:
They do, yes. But not by my hand.

Oh, very well. Move along. I'll find someone else to imperil our dear little Nico. Perhaps I have a wolf or a wicked stepmother around here somewhere... Arcade:

MiniBoss - Daimon Hellstrom[]

Reveal[]

We will leave Nico to find her own way through this dark forest... for now we have a most delectable interaction to observe...

Satana, you have certainly carved a swath through the demons I provided for this sector. But are you ready to meet a demon soul more akin to your own?

Arcade:

Start[]

Satana:
Daimon, nobody can open portals out of here.

The point is for us to kill each other, sis. Pretty soon someone smarter than Arcade will figure out a way to crack the barrier, but until then...

...the only people who get out are the people Arcade lets out.

Daimon Hellstrom:

Satana:
Then I guess I just have to kill you and see if your soul... I forget, do you still have one?... can find its way through this super impermeable barrier and get wherever it's going.

Interesting idea. I'll try the same with you. Daimon Hellstrom:

Lose[]

Enough already. This place is worse than Hell. Daimon Hellstrom:

Complete[]

Satana:
You can drop the smartass big brother act now.

I fear you have done enough damage to his mortal shell that our friend Daimon is incapable of response. Arcade:

Satana:
Serves him right.

Boss - Thor[]

Reveal[]

And now, another sibling dance of death! If you thought Hellstrom and Satana were a spectacle, wait until you see the Asgardian Annihilator himself, the mighty Thor! Arcade:

Squaring off against his half-brother, the jealous jokester and half-Jotun, Loki!

Loki:
Alliteration is a device best used sparingly, Arcade. I say this from the experience of too many eddas heard round too many hearths.

Criticism is easy, my dear sir. Let us continue our literary discussion after you trade fiery words with the Odinson. Arcade:

Start[]

It will not be murder if you die at my hand. Your crimes are too numerous. Thor:

Loki:
Let's not take the time to list them, brother. It will distract both of us from the task at hand.

But I must ask: have you seen the mechanical versions of your lady Sif? Quite lifelike. I could almost fall in love.

If you are taunting me, brother, you'll have to do better. Thor:

Loki:
Arcade was right. Criticism is easy. You know what's beautiful? Elegies. Like the one I will give at your funeral.

Lose[]

Even in Murderworld, your trickery cannot match courage and strength of arm, brother. Thor:

Complete[]

Loki:
Your Murderworld begins to crumble, Arcade. Has the plotter been outplotted?

Jibe all you wish, Laufeyson. The entertainment I have gotten from this marvelous game immunizes me against your goading.

There will be another Murderworld. Each serves a purpose, and in the future perhaps I will take a more active role.

My sincere thanks to you and all the other participants, living and not. Return to the outside, and tell everyone what you saw here.

I can use the publicity.

Oh, even though you're free to go, I make no warrant that the other inmates will let you pass without incident.

Now if you'll excuse me, pressing matters require my attention.

Arcade:

Mission Complete[]

Professor X:
Agent. The block has been lifted. Is Nico--

Nico Minoru:
I'm here, Professor Xavier. We're just about to leave.

Nick Fury:
Agent, we've got regular comm again. Arcade's on to the next thing. He never can focus on a particular Murderworld for too long.

Piping your location to a recovery team. You and the rest of Arcade's inmates are headed to the Helicarrier for a rigorous debrief.
