You're wasting time, Fury. While you pose riddles, Thanos himself approaches.

Maximus the Mad:

Tony Stark:

Thanos? Busted out of his sweet space-amber prison? That's what I was going to guess as soon as you said "worse." Also: Maximus?! Nick, is there something you're not telling us?

Maria Hill:

He came to us for help--

I came to warn you. Thanos has an army of Test Subjects and he is intent on using them to at last conquer Earth.

Maximus the Mad:

Tony Stark:

You know this guy's nuts, right? Maybe not a good idea to take strategic advice from him?

Nick Fury:

Just like I don't take it from you. I'm well aware of Maximus' character and history. But his story checks out... so far.

Maria Hill:

Go after the Test Subjects. According to Maximus, Thanos has sent the Black Order as well. We're being invaded, people. This is war.

Nick Fury:

We've already briefed the Inhumans and they are fully on board. Coordinate with them in the field.

The first thing we need to do is get Maximus to a secure location. Send a hero to escort him to a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility, and keep quiet about it.

A field team at this location could use a little extra muscle handling a mob of Test Subjects. Thundra is in the vicinity.

Thundra, you happen to be the closest super-powered slab of muscle to a Test Subject mob menacing the local civilians.

Agent Coulson:

I think what Mr. Stark means is: Can you please lend the field team a hand?

Thundra:

Of course... there's nothing I love more than combat.

We've made the call, Tony. The mission is to defend against Test Subjects and the Black Order, not interrogate Thanos.

As opposed to, say, Maximus the Mad, who is ethically unimpeachable.

Maria Hill:

Let's hear what he has to say. Maximus?

I said there was a Test Subject army; there was. I said Thanos and the Black Order were after me; they are. You still think I'm lying, Stark?

Tony Stark:

You know what I think? I think everyone is lying.

Agent Coulson:

Maximus is still dodging the Black Order. How much longer are we going to hide him?

Maria Hill:

As long as Black Bolt and Medusa want us to. Medusa?

Medusa:

We can't let the Black Order get hold of him. I don't think he's telling the entire truth, but neither do I believe what Nebula said.

Tony Stark:

He knows more about these Test Subjects than he's telling us. They've had Terrigen exposure. Hmmm. Who do we know that has access to Terrigen Mists and is loony enough to help someone create an army of homicidal mutants?

Nick Fury:

You don't seem to be on board with our strategy, Tony. Do we need to iron this out?

Tony Stark:

No, Nick. There's nothing to iron out. You've got S.H.I.E.L.D. helping out a notorious liar and lunatic, and that's totally okay. Protocol, even. I'll be over here waiting for everyone to wake up. Meantime, Agent? We've still got Test Subjects and the Black Order to worry about.

Test Subjects are attacking a power station, and they've damaged its controls. If it overheats, there's going to be a mighty big fire... and and equally big power outage. We can't afford either. Send Iceman to cool things down.

Bobby, this is maybe a little beneath you, but how about you put a coating of ice on the power station? We can't afford to have a big fire there. The fire department's overstretched and this is no time for a blackout.

10-4, man. One power-station deep freeze, coming right up.

Nick Fury:

Are we sure this is a time for diplomacy?

Karnak:

Maximus the Mad is accused of causing war between Thanos and the people of Earth. Furthermore, he is accused of reneging on his agreement with Thanos and thereby creating the conditions for that war to begin.

Turn your Test Subject Army over to Thanos, as you agreed, and that charge will be expunged.

Ronan:

Tony Stark:

I knew it. I knew it! You people didn't believe me, but I knew we couldn't trust that guy. I mean, where was Thanos--or anyone but an Inhuman--going to get that much Terrigen to work with?

Gorgon:

Nobody trusted him, Stark. But it was his word against Thanos'.

Tony Stark:

Well, now we know. Hope it's not too late.

Surrender him, let his army stand down, and we will have no further quarrel.

Ronan:

Karnak:

As satisfying as I would find it to be rid of Maximus, he's family. The royals of Attilan will administer their own justice, Ronan.

Yield, Maximus, and your ordeal will end.

Maximus sure did make us look like Mayberry RFD, didn't he? We've been had. Ronan has a lot of negative personal qualities, but he doesn't lie.

Medusa:

No. He doesn't. Maximus has run to Thanos, begging for his life. I cannot decipher the words, but the nature of his emotions is clear.

Nick Fury:

Where are they?

Medusa:

I don't know. They are moving, growing more distant...

Nick Fury:

Uh uh. We are not going to harbor the mastermind of this new Test Subject army and then just let him walk away. Coulson. Find them.

Agent Coulson:

Roger that, Boss.

Epic Boss - Thanos/Black Order

No biggie. Was going to happen sooner or later. Let's get to it.

Blackagar is already moving to intercept him.

Maximus is on the run... but before he split, he apparently handed Thanos the keys to his Test Subject army.

Maria Hill:

Thanos with a Test Subject army is bad, but they were supposed to be his anyway. Maximus must have offered him something else to save his skin. We're going to have our hands full containing them, but if Maximus cut a deal with Thanos, it's more important than ever for us to run him down.

Professor X:

Permit me to clarify. Thanos and Maximus are speaking at this moment.

Your life is forfeit to me, Maximus. What can you offer in payment of this debt?

Thanos:

You saw what the Terrigen Mists did for the Test Subjects. What if you had the means to create a thousand new such minions... or a million?

Maximus the Mad:

And how would you do this?

Thanos:

A Terrigen Bomb. It would spread the particles of mist over an entire city... or a nation if you wished.

Maximus the Mad:

Build it. If it works, you may continue to draw breath. But if you betray me again, the universe will not be large enough to hide you from my revenge.

Thanos:

Professor X:

Your suspicions were correct. There is a deal, and a Terrigen Bomb is a menace far greater than the Test Subject army we already face.

Agent Coulson:

We're on the hunt. The minute we have a fix on Maximus' location, we're going after him with all available assets. Stay ready, Agent. Things are about to get hairy. The Black Order and the Test Subject Army just appeared in Wakanda, and that's where we're going, too.

We've tracked Maximus here, but Thanos has set up the Black Order to guard him.

Tony Stark:

Kill him, guard him... kill him, guard him... poor indecisive Thanos. Why are you looking at me like that, Nick?

Nick Fury:

We need to cut through the Black Order, and fast, because intel confirms Maximus is building Thanos a Terrigen Bomb. Do I need to spell out what will happen if a bomb like that went off in the City of Wakanda... or New York?

Tony Stark:

Nope. Millions of people suddenly undergoing Terrigenesis, that kind of speaks for itself.

Nick Fury:

Then let's make sure it doesn't happen. Black Bolt is going after Maximus, but he'll need some help getting through the Black Order.

A group of White Gorillas has stolen what appears to be a capsule of Terrigen Mist. Hunt them down and retrieve it.

Psylocke has been searching the edge of the City of Wakanda, looking for signs of Maximus' lab. Instead she found a truckload of Test Subjects... right as they got loose. Keep her there to hold them in place until we can pick them up.

Fury, I thought I had found Maximus' lab... and perhaps I have, just not his new one.

Nick Fury:

Clarify, please.

Psylocke:

I broke into this complex of buildings and it's full of Test Subjects. I think I can keep them inside, but not forever.

Nick Fury:

We're sending help, Psylocke. Hang in there.

Agent Coulson:

She's right. This was one of Maximus' labs. He's done some interesting things with Terrigenesis.

Nick Fury:

I'm sure he's doing interesting things with that bomb for Thanos, too. Interesting is not always desirable. Give me boring once in a while.

If Black Panther goes after Maximus, things are going to get ugly. We have a mission that might distract him...

Maximus chooses Wakanda for his Terrigen Bomb? WAKANDA?

Tony Stark:

T'Challa, we've got a bigger problem. There are traces of Terrigen Mist in a couple of other locations in the City of Wakanda... but they're high-security locations. We can't get in. But you can.

Black Panther:

Very well. Deploy your containment teams and I will meet them to provide access.

Tony Stark:

I figured you'd catch up.

Black Panther:

A childish ruse. Yet perhaps wise. I apologize for losing my temper.

Karnak has run into Supergiant and Corvus Glaive. Our guess is the Black Order is protecting approaches to Maximus.

Maria Hill:

That gives us a clue where Maximus is, but knowing that won't help if we can't get to him.

Agent Coulson:

So let's get out there and give Karnak a little boost before Supergiant eats his mind.

Tony Stark:

The clock is ticking. Maximus won't take forever building his bomb.

We've got a lock on Maximus. He's in the final stages of creating the Terrigenesis Bomb.

Tony Stark:

If that thing goes off, Terrigen Mists will spread over Wakanda... and from there, they'll get into wind patterns and spread all over the world.

Maria Hill:

We're talking millions of people potentially affected.

Medusa:

Blackagar will stop it, but we must isolate Maximus if we can.

Brother, if Terrigenesis has created us, and we are good... why would we not want all to undergo that marvelous transformation? This is a great boon I offer humankind. Thanos too desires it. So I keep my neck away from Corvus Glaive's blade, and I wrench humanity upward along the evolutionary scale.

Maximus the Mad:

Black Bolt:

Maximus is down. Cordon off this entire area and evacuate everyone but the containment team. Is the bomb finished?

Medusa:

It appears he was able to finish one... and it's not here. There's an empty space between two other bomb assemblies. There are capsules of Terrigen Mist lined up next to those. It doesn't appear he had the chance to affix them.

Agent Coulson:

Even so, the bomb is dangerous. Essential personnel only. Everyone else out. I'll be right there.

Medusa:

Blackagar will take his brother back to your Helicarrier for now. Is there a place to hold him?

Tony Stark:

You bet there is. I'll meet Black Bolt on the flight deck.

To me, Cull Obsidian. Earth will be ours in due time. For now, let Maximus face whatever weak justice his brother will mete out. We will return, Blackagar Boltagon. Your human allies cannot protect you forever.

Coulson. Status. Do we have Maximus' lab cordoned off? Even if he hasn't loaded the Terrigen Mists into those two bombs, they could still make a hell of a boom.

Agent Coulson:

Bad news there, Boss. Medusa was right. Maximus finished at least one of the Terrigen Bombs. And he apparently was able to transfer it to Thanos before we arrived.

Nick Fury:

Sunuvah...

Tony Stark:

Thanos has a Terrigen Bomb. Suddenly Test Subjects don't seem so bad.

Maria Hill:

Medusa, Maximus is our only lead about where that bomb might be.

Medusa:

We will hold Maximus and conduct his interrogation. Blackagar will consult with you about how to proceed.

Tony Stark:

This is a hell of a time for squabbling over jurisdiction.

Nick Fury:

Squeeze him hard. Find out where Thanos might have gone with that bomb. No patting yourselves on the back, people. We've got a Mad Titan loose with a weapon of mass destruction. Anything else we did right doesn't measure up to that.
