Marvel: Avengers Alliance Wiki

Different people play M:AA differently. What I find odd is that when I ask people what their play style is, they don't know how to answer. So, this is my attempt to catalogue some of the different styles and strategies.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but the methods that are presented here represent the style of play that different players will gravitate towards, regardless of whomever they are playing with.

For example, I am a Glass Cannon player (and proud). It doesn't matter which heroes or items I have, because at the end of the day all I care about is a Heroe's ability to deal out a magnificent amount of damage.

I have friends whom prefer to play a lot more defensively than me (MC Hammer or Ivory Tower). Others favour maximising the number of attacks they dish out (Top Gun) with the theory that the person with the most turns, wins.

I'm super-keen to hear how other people play so do feel free to add a Comment about how you like to play M:AA.

Aikido

Much like the martial art, this method uses a technique that binds up your opponent and then uses their own force against them. Players that favour this play style will use:

  • Characters that have a "backlash" effect (Emma Frost, Ghost Rider and Scarlet Witch)
  • Items that give "migraine" and other similar Buffs that damage the target if they attack
  • Heroes and Items that give Counter-strikes

Divide and Conquer

This strategy is fairly new in the field but has risen in popularity sine the remodeling of the Invisible Woman that resulted in her gaining the Force Cage ability. The simple idea behind this is to nullify one opponent, thereby making it easier to take out the rest of the team.

Glass Cannon Method

HIDA_-_Run_Rabbit_Junk

HIDA - Run Rabbit Junk

This method focuses on maximising your attack at the detriment of ignoring your defence. After all, your opponent can't hit you back if you've taken them out in One Shot.

Again, there are lots of methods to achieve a massive damage output, but some common methods include:

Ivory Tower

Similar to the MC Hammer Method, except that instead of relying on high Evasion so that your opponents fail to land a hit, this method relies on taking the hit, and having it do bugger all because your Defence is up the wah-zoo.

People who favour this method will use methods like:

Hammer Time

MC Hammer - U Can't Touch This

This PVP method focuses on tactics that make your heroes untouchable and will have you boppin' away to MC Hammer while you laugh at the AI failing to land a single blow on any of your heroes.

There are several ways you can achieve this, but some methods include:

  • Having a Shield (eg. Wanda's, Stephen's, Sue's) that your opponents can't get through
  • Having some other Buff (like Storm's Shroud) that your opponents can't penetrate
  • Having a character that can't be hit (eg. Kitty or Spidey), and then having them intercept all incoming attacks

Top Gun

This method focuses on having as many multiple attacks as possible.

I feel the need... The need, for speed!

Again, there are many ways you can achieve this, but some methods include:

Volcano

Kanye_West_-_Stronger

Kanye West - Stronger

Similar to the Glass Cannon Method, except that this method uses a combination of Tanking so that your Agent and Heroes can last long enough to build up their Damage Output until it becomes and explosion of Overkill.

Again, there are many ways you can achieve this, but some methods include:

  • Using Heroes that increase their damage with time (eg. Iron Man, Thor, Hulk)
  • Using Items that increase the damage output of your team (eg. Offensive Accelerator, Double Strike)
  • Using Hero Buffs that increase your Agent's or other Hero's damage/stats (eg. Emma's Potential Unleashed)
